this ain't no charmed life on the road

we have redefined the word “bathroom”. it basically means any enclosed space. but squatting in any convenient bush works, even though it burns the quads.

snot rockets. no big deal. who needs tissues anyway?

i now find myself echoing what other people say. even when i’m no longer on the road and everyone could most likely hear them the first time.

shouting or pointing out road obstructions in a group now seems totally normal. even when walking. and sometimes driving. car back, anyone?

dictating exactly what i am doing on the bike (slowing, stopping, turning left) has translated to life off the bike (making a sandwich, closing the door, opening the window)

singing with no music. because who needs accompaniment?

shouting woah!, wow!, oh my goodness!, or any number of exclamations for that matter, when you see a sunrise, mountain, waterfall (or whatever beautiful part of creation it may be) is never questioned. no explanation necessary.

there are no qualms about wearing my helmet and spandex anywhere. into a gas station, in the van, in a grocery store… i think we even wore them to church once or twice.

it is not uncommon anymore to get off the bike at the end of the day, and be covered in dirt and grease, and have no idea how it got there. literally, dirty from head to toe.

so beware friends, this ain’t no charmed life on the road. it will definitely change you.

Bathroom: any enclosed space where you are generally confident that most people aren't looking :)
