sunburns and suntans

one new experience i’ve had on our tour is getting sunburned. i have a pretty dark complexion and don’t burn very easily, so i never really knew what it was like to have a legit sunburn. but because of that, i mostly forget to use sunscreen. and then, i got a sunburn. and now i know that it hurts. there’s this comedian named demetri martin and i think he is pretty funny. i like what he has to say about sunburns:  “i like suntans, but i’m more interested in sunburns. cause a sunburn tells a story; like ‘hey, that guy likes v-necks.’” i kind of think that’s true for our team’s sunburns and suntan lines.  we have crazy lines on our bodies where our socks, bike shorts, watches, riding jerseys, and blood:water bracelets are covering our skin as we ride. we all laugh about our tans but i was thinking about it today and i really like the story that our sunburns and suntans are telling.
