Ride:Well – Top 10 complaints about riding my bike up the coast

The ride up the coast so far has been awesome, and right now we have a couple of days off in San Francisco. Putting this list together was tough because overall this has been a great experience, but I managed to come up with a couple of things to complain about. My next post will be a top 10 list of the reasons why this trip has been amazing!

10. Sleeping around people who snore – I’m a light sleeper so having to deal with this every night has been a bit of a pain. Ear plugs were an absolute must.

9. Biking into the wind – Apparently we get to ride into the wind all the way up to Seattle. I didn’t really have to deal with this in Seattle, and so it has been a new challenge. It’s quite frustrating to be pedaling hard downhill and only going 12 mph.

8. Waking up early – I never liked waking up early, but now it is necessary. Plus, I am trying to wake up an extra 45 minutes early so that I can spend some time reading and praying

7. Bikes not working perfectly – I’m pretty sure I had 4 flat tires within the first couple of days.

6. Eating sandwiches for lunch every day – Lunch is either PB&J or a turkey sandwich

5. Being dirty all the time – Sometimes we get to shower, but not every night. Even when we do shower, we are only clean for a couple of hours before we sleep and then the next morning we get on the bike again

4. Crazy schedules – Every day the schedule changes depending on how far we need to ride, how we are getting our meals, and how we are cleaning up.

3. Always being tired – When I wake up I am tired, when I’m done riding I am tired. Even on days when I don’t ride I am tired

2. Missing out on the Seattle summer – I was bummed about this at first but I heard it’s still gloomy in Seattle

1. Not sleeping on a bed – I got to sleep on a bed the other day at a host home in San Luis Obispo and it was amazing! I can’t wait to get back home to my bed
