Ft. Worth, Texas.  On the schedule, when we arrived in San Diego, it seemed so far away yet here we are.  We have cycled from San Diego to almost Dallas, Texas.  Looking at that distance on a map, it’s just so hard to believe.

We’ve gotten into a good groove here on the Ride:Well Southern tour.  Our morning and evening loading and unloading goes smoother than when we first started.  We just get the job done every day.  Most nights we arrive in the early evening, tired and sweaty with only enough energy to unpack, shower, eat and go to bed.

Then we have a day like today.  We only had 30 miles from Weatherford to Ft. Worth and we finished before lunch.  We had an entire afternoon to relax and enjoy our team.  After lunch and showers, many of us took much needed naps.  One group went to the movies.  One group played cards.

Now I sit here in the gym of the church we are staying at in Ft. Worth watching my teammates.  I see Brandon and Craig playing basketball.  Jesse is reading, Chris and Justin are laying on air mattresses on their phones.  Suddenly a jump rope session breaks out.  Sandra is rocking the double dutch jump rope and teaching Haylee, Sarah, Alyssa, Brandon and Craig.  Music is playing.  Mostly we are enjoying each other’s company.

We have a purpose.  God has called us here and brought us together. We are on this tour to ride our bikes across the country and raise awareness and money for the water crisis in Africa.  The daily bike ride is our job and what this summer is all about.  I also believe this free time is our other important job.  One month ago 15 strangers met in San Diego and tentatively bonded.  Right now, I’m watching a family relax and play together and it’s a beautiful sight to see.  I love this team.

Awesome work on jump-roping!  Great job Sandra!  Team Run:Free had a jump rope as well...but we just were not able to turn double-dutch....
