It's not how you ride...it's how you ride in...

I spent some time tonight reading the initial postings from the RWT 2011 team. I also got goosebumps...I smiled a lot...got teary eyed...and prayed for each and every one of you on the team. You have had quite a week of cycling and I remember it well...I was in you hot sweaty bike shoes 3 years ago. The intense desert riding was an incredibly powerful experience for me and I am sure I experienced every emotion possible while being baked to well done between the blazing overhead sun and the…

rolling and tumbling...

So, you might be asking yourself..."what does Isaac Hayes aka BLACK MOSES have to do with riding bikes?" Answer = not much, really but you gotta admit he was C-O-O-L...Seriously, I spent last weekend with the RIDEWELL 2009 team in Nashville as they passed thru on the way to the Atlantic. I had a great time getting to know some of the team and putting some personalities behind the pics I've been seeing. I got to ride in with them last Friday into… Continue

WOW...has it really been a year?

So, today marks the anniversary on one of the scariest and weirdest things I’ve ever done in my life. I left the boring comfort of my life in Kentucky to go to California to meet a bunch of people I have never met and spend 40 days riding a bicycle across the country. I am dead serious when I say it couldn’t have been any stranger or stressful to me. You see, I wasn’t a guy that stepped too far out of the box and this was so far out it was beyond… Continue

The end of my most excellent and amazing summer.....EVER !!!

Well, as you have heard there are some changes in the wind headed your way in regard to the future RIDE:WELL TOUR potentially for 2009. As this is the offical end of summer , it is with the deepest degree of sadness that I can express to you that this will be my last blog for the 2008 RIDE:WELL BIKE TOUR. I cannot possibly begin to tell everyone how much fun that putting my sometimes random thoughts and pictures for all to share has been for me. I… Continue

Thank you, sir, for the kind words and the encouragement. I will soon be reading your words of wisdom and will acknowledge how they impacted me. I say soon because I should probably do it after I clock out and go home. I wouldn't want to set a bad example at work, now would I?

Thanks Mike! I’m more excited then I can even put into words. Jess and I went riding tonight and I told her I just wish it were already June 11. I’m so ready to get this thing started. I know it will be such an amazing adventure! I look forward to meeting you as well!

Mike:

Calling Best Buy this time of year is a little inefficient. My cell number works better: 540-819-0569. Call anytime. We've got mountains and peace and quiet if you ever need a vacation spot. Room and board are free to those who will put up with us.

Mike, good to hear from you. It is sort of odd to consider the conversation that evening. I'm not that insightful, but God had things in mind for us. He uses us all to further his master plan, even li'l ole me. The concentric circle idea stemmed from a conversation I had with our pastor at church. He was describing to me the idea of concentric circles vs. moving up a ladder of success. In that conversation the context was the closeness of us to God. The more we focus in on him, the closer we are in the circles to God. We related to church leadership as well, not moving up, but drawing closer to God's inner circle.
Mike, it is a rare blessing to converse with you. You see right now you seem very single dimensional to me. I have but a snap shot of you guys from when you visited. Your state of mind, your athletic endeavor is all that I know of you. To have the opportunity know more of you is an honor. To share a joke, to sing a song, to shed a tear with someone is what makes people very real to me. I hope that we might continue a dialog and share lifes path with each other.
God bless, Mike. Keep the embers burning.
