One-liners and Robert Frost

Almost two weeks after the fact I finally sat down to clunk out some reflections. I guess it's more of a sampling of things that I've learned, that have convicted me, resounded with me, etc., all in cute, compact one-liner form. Some are from sermons, others from the mouths of the Ride:Well family. Some are obvious, others profound. But simple as some may be, I think there's a little more to be taken from each one than first meets the eye.

One dollar provides clean water for one African for one… Continue

Teammates

Wednesday's ride from Chandler to Payson was rough, to say the least. It was another super hot, 90-ish mile day through the desert, but for a little extra fun, we got to climb up to an elevation of about 5000 feet. My body experienced lots of unhappy feelings - nausea, dehydration - and all I really wanted to do was just get in the van. Thank God for teammates.

Teammates push each other:

As soon as I told Brian I wanted to quit, he pulled a piece of paper out of his jersey that read something… Continue

You Are Now Free to Move About the Country

I have so much to say and not nearly enough energy to say it all. And, as a disclaimer, for those of you who I told to check this blog for constant updates, I've found I probably won't be blogging as often as I originally thought. But, Definitely check out the team blog, because I feel like at least one person will be blogging on most nights.

So everything has been so great. I love everyone on the team, and the rides thus far have been unbelievable gorgeous. First of all, it is SO great to be a… Continue

Into the Wild

That was the title of a message a friend gave recently about encountering God in the wilderness. He talked about how the Hebrew word for wilderness, midbar, also means mouth, and how God speaks to us and transforms us in the solitude, fear, doubt, wonder, and awe that we experience in the wilderness, just as He did with Jacob and Moses. The long stretches of road that cut across America may not be your typical "wilderness," but I see myself experiencing that same solitude, fear, doubt, wonder, a… Continue

Ride:Wet

Once again, Google Maps failed to get us through our entire loop, ending our ride abruptly at a nuclear power plant next to the beach.

Such a pity.

The weather was warm, the water gorgeous, and the pollen starting to irritate my skin, so we sprinted into the water, ignoring concerns about drenching our bike shorts and such. Ce la vie, yeah? Of course, I really didn't have that much to lose - I've still been riding in my regular spandex (sans chamois) - so, for me at least, the wet ride back wa… Continue

my spring break is going wonderfully...it's so good to be with my family and friends and just relax a little. I've got 22 hours this semester, so the break is much needed! you?
yeah, I was training for an olympic distance tri in May, but I decided I wouldn't have time to swim and run enough...I'll live vicariously through you :o) actually, I think I might be able to do this mini-sprint in Nashville. Nothing much, but just to give me my tri fix.
can't wait to meet you!
