Almost two weeks after the fact I finally sat down to clunk out some reflections. I guess it's more of a sampling of things that I've learned, that have convicted me, resounded with me, etc., all in cute, compact one-liner form. Some are from sermons, others from the mouths of the Ride:Well family. Some are obvious, others profound. But simple as some may be, I think there's a little more to be taken from each one than first meets the eye.

Wednesday's ride from Chandler to Payson was rough, to say the least. It was another super hot, 90-ish mile day through the desert, but for a little extra fun, we got to climb up to an elevation of about 5000 feet. My body experienced lots of unhappy feelings - nausea, dehydration - and all I really wanted to do was just get in the van. Thank God for teammates.

That was the title of a message a friend gave recently about encountering God in the wilderness. He talked about how the Hebrew word for wilderness, midbar, also means mouth, and how God speaks to us and transforms us in the solitude, fear, doubt, wonder, and awe that we experience in the wilderness, just as He did with Jacob and Moses. Once again, Google Maps failed to get us through our entire loop, ending our ride abruptly at a nuclear power plant next to the beach.
