About Me:
I am a blue-eyed boy of exceptional paleness hailing from the lower right-hand corner of Alabama; now live from the great state of Tennessee. I was born in a John Mellencamp song where I wandered into drug store/soda shops and beauty parlors after school. Presently, I'm getting used to life in the slow-moving Jackson though I still miss the radio and record stores of Nashville.

At home, my lovely wife and I like to play Scrabble and work through our Netflix queue. We sometimes go to thrift stores and yard sales. I make mix CDs. She makes meaningful meals and enters recipe contests. We have entirely too many books. We like to talk to each other more than is probably healthy. Donna and I live with and are caretakers of her mom who has stage four cancer. We all laugh a lot together.

My post-college years have been accompanied by personal crises (unemployment, family illness, and depression). I have a B.A. in Christian Education and an M.A. in Religion but these experiences have taught me as much. While I have had my own hardships, I've never been without running water. There are people in the world who do not have clean water at all. Compassion moves me to bike 3,100 miles from San Diego to Myrtle Beach to raise funds to build wells for them. Please be moved also and give as you are able to support me in this.

I am a regular contributor to http://www.christandpopculture.com and I can be followed on Twitter @chasebook.

This adventure is incredulous enough but I believe they express doubts others haven't spoken. I've asked myself the same question. It's a valid one.

Why would I say that? Well, I'm a sedentary, frequent flake who sunburns easily and has no internal GPS.

But, these points work just as well to prove that I have to do this.… Continue

Music Makes the Miles Move

I didn't think they'd say yes...or I would've started training sooner.

As of November 6th, I was thinking about applying. I hesitated because of present financial concerns. By November 16th, I had sorted through my hesitation, toiled over application essays, and scheduled an interview. Already it seemed very real but I worried somehow it would fall through. On December 1st, I got the call. I was invited to be part of the 2010 Southern Tour. Yes, I was thrilled. I spent a few days acclimating my… Continue
