Every day, thousands of sub-Saharan Africans must hike several miles just for a drink of water. The average distance that women and children in developing countries walk to collect water per day is 4 miles. The average weight that they carry on their head is approximately 44 lbs. Over 40 billion work hours are lost every year in Africa to the need of fetching clean drinking water.

In order to better understand their plight, we have planned a water:walk in which we will walk 1 mile to a water source and 1 mile back with our water jugs filled, as an opportunity to share in what they experience every single day.

Event Details

When | Saturday, July 9 @ 9:00-11:00 a.m.

Where | The Oaks Fellowship, Red Oak, TX 777 South 35E, Red Oak, TX 75154

What to Bring | as many jugs as you can carry filled [will be filled with water on the return walk]; for example, milk jugs, gatorade jugs, etc... suggested amount: 2-5 gallons.

Cost | $15 [$5 for kids 10 and under]

Why | You can help our friends in underdeveloped areas of Africa by raising funds and awareness to provide clean water wells, sanitation projects... You will also receive a Ride:Well T-shirt and have a chance to earn the following items through your fundraising efforts*:

+ $100 raised, you receive a 2011 Blood:Water T-shirt and Water Bottle
+ $500 raised, you receive an official 2011 Ride:Well Cycling Kit

*Only online donations will be accepted toward your fundraising incentives and you must raise the amounts above two-weeks prior to the event.

Fundraising | Once you register, your name will be added to our online donation page within 48 hours. Your friends and family will then be able to help you meet your fundraising goals. Every Friday we will until the event we will post all the donations online here so you can track how much you’ve raised.
